Lubbock Economic Index Nears Record Peak, Consumer Price Index Declines Slightly

While a slight increase from January 2011 to January 2012 may seem fairly diminutive, it is also the first year-over-year increase in the index since January 2009, according to Lubbock National Bank.
The LEI increased for each of the past three months, and five of the last seven months, according to Lubbock National Bank.
Job creation continues to climb in the Lubbock metro area, and other economic indicators are improving as well.
September's LEI remains the same from August, and the Consumer Price Index shows that prices are continuing to climb.
Some sectors, such as auto sales have improved, and some have declined notably.
The LEI has increased from one month to the next only twice within the past 12 months, and the index has settled at low levels unseen since early 2004.
