The family and friends of Mark Anthony Ysasaga have been petitioning LISD to have him recognized at Coronado High School's graduation ceremony. Now, we have a small update on the situation.

Nancy Sharp, LISD Executive Director of Communications and Community Relations, joined Lubbock's First News with Tom Collins and Laura Mac to talk about the Lubbock school district graduation ceremonies video that will be live-streamed on the internet. LISD and Texas Tech have teamed up to provide live video of the events for those that cannot attend.

Coronado High School Principal Dr. Jerry Adams has been named Texas High School Principal of the Year by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals and will now be considered for the national principal of the year in 2015.

From July 24 to August 12, barrels will be placed in front of all Lubbock United Supermarkets, Market Street and Amigos locations at part of their Project SOS: Supply Our Students initiative. Customers can also make a cash donation during their checkout.

Lubbock ISD along with the South Plains Food Bank, YWCA and the Texas Hunger Initiative will help provide healthier food options for children and teenagers this summer.

Yesterday, United announced an official donation of $38,000 dollars to Project Graduation, a high school program that provides students with safe and substance-free graduation parties.

Tuesday on Lubbock's First News, Joni Rodela, social studies coordinator for LISD, gave an overview of economic education for K-12. Rodela said there has a been a push for increased literacy of personal finance to better prepare high school students to be self-sustaining adults...

Today marks the beginning of the Chinese New Year and one local Lubbock school is marking the occasion.
