Friday on Lubbock's First News, Mayor Glen Robertson gave an overview of topics covered during the most recent City Council meeting.
Regarding the issue of synthetic marijuana, Robertson said that in spite of recent efforts to identify and account for new compounds for regulation, they still have to wait for them to come out to make an amendment to the city ordinance on the drug
Since the chemical compositions of these synthetic drugs for sale change to get around existing ordinances, the Council approved the ordinance which adds a number of the new chemical structures to the City’s ban list.
Council members heard a push from a citizen to allow off-leash hours at a local park, a new truck stop, and an expansion for the City’s three-year-old animal shelter.
Precinct delegates and elected officials have started the 2014 Lubbock County Republican Party Convention. The convention is being held at Lubbock's Memorial Civic Center.
Following an invocation by Pastor Jim Robinson, Party Chairman Carl Tepper welcomed delegates and provided an overview of the convention schedule.
