"It's taken its toll on people emotionally and socially. And of course, the business community, all we're trying to do is get back open and generate business," McBride said.

"The entire industry, more or less, was shut down because of a few bad actors," Eddie said.

Eddie went on to warn that this is not going to be an immediate return to work, saying, "You don't just turn the green light on...returning to work has to be gradual, it's going to be phased in."

Tomorrow, November 13th, the Chamber of Commerce will have their Young Professionals 20 Under 40 Banquet. They will recognize 20 local leaders in the community and the resumes that they have built. Eddie said, "I wouldn't call them up-and-coming rising stars, I would say they're already stars."

Eddie said that the chamber would not be taking a position on the issue, but did say, "We want them to pass the budget that is the most effective budget for the county and their operations. And last year they passed the effective rate, no matter if it was done politically, it seems like this year, from what I can understand, the intent of all five commissioners were to pass the effective rate in yesterday's vote on the agenda as the effective rate. They had previously all agreed in work session that they were going to pass as effective rate. So yesterday, to me, when Chad and Jason decided to walk out it didn't allow that hand to play out."

I think it's going to be a great opportunity for the expo center to actually attract a lot of new out-of-towners to Lubbock and that's why it's going to pay back the hotel-motel tax that's going to be used to build it.

"There's a lot of things from a trade show representation that this new expo center brings to play as well. It's going to be an important addition to our community and I think it's very well needed, especially for the visitors," Eddie said.
