Since Monday of this week, four new cases have been confirmed in the city of Lubbock with all cases occurring in persons over the age of 50 years.

The City of Lubbock will be offering childhood immunizations Tuesday at South Plains Mall from 10am to 4pm between JC Penny and The Pretzel Maker.
Enteric diseases are most commonly spread person-to-person through the unwashed hands of an infected person, and can happen through direct contact or by contaminated food or drink.
District 1 Lubbock City Councilman Victor Hernandez has announced he will continue to push the city toward creating a joint City of Lubbock/ Lubbock County Health Department.
“There is nothing to be gained by the formation or creation of a City-County Health Department,” Dr. Steve Presley said.
The City Council directed Presley to appoint a subcommittee to begin diplomatic initiatives with the County regarding the issue.
“There is a need for a Health Department, but there’s also a need to fund it. And there’s also a limit to what the taxpayers can afford to pay vis-a-vis other services…It’s going to take a community effort”, Mayor Tom Martin said.
A single vaccine costs $10, and two or more vaccines will cost $15. Flu shots for adults will also be available for $20 per person.
