With the Red Raiders football season less than three weeks away, there's a lot to be excited about for the upcoming season. A lot of focus this season is who will be the quarterback going into the first game against Ole Miss, and who will be the go-to receiver.

T.J. Vasher is one of the bigger names returning to the offense this season. After a full season in the Red Raider offense, Vasher looks to break out and have a terrific sophomore season.

Vasher has also caught the eye of some of the national media, as he was named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose award watch list.

The award is given to the top offensive player in NCAA Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity.

It could be an uphill battle for Vasher, however. Since the award was established in 2013, every award winner except one has been a quarterback, with last year's winner being none other than former Texas Tech QB and no. 1 NFL Draft pick Baker Mayfield.
