Retired pilot, an author, Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger will take part in The Lubbock Women's Club Distinguished Speaker Series in January. Sullenberger will speak at the club on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 6:30p.

Tickets for the event go on sale Friday, November 30, at a cost of $75 per person, and they can be purchased by calling The Lubbock Women's Club at (806) 763-6448.

Sullenberger rose to fame in January 2009 after successfully ditching US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River after his plane lost power to both engines. No was killed during the emergency landing, and rescue, dubbed the "Miracle on the Hudson".

Sullenberger's speech will cover leadership and is titled, "Preparing for Excellence: Leading Your Team to Success". He also written two books. His autobiography, Highest Dutyand Making a Difference: Stories of Vision and Courage from America's Leaders.

The Lubbock Women's Club is located at 2020 Broadway Avenue.
