"Streets of Laredo" was the second book in the "Lonesome Dove" series written by Larry McMurtry, but is chronologically the final book in the story-line.

The plot in Streets of Laredo involves a much darker story than the other books in the series, but is nonetheless a very well written tale. The adventure continues the narrative from the end of "Lonesome Dove", and centers on Woodrow Call's hired pursuit of a young killer named Joey Garza, who is a crack long-distance shot with a German-made rifle, and has been robbing trains and murdering with arrogance. Streets of Laredo continues and completes the events in the lives of many previous characters that one wonders about from previous tales, including Gus, Pea Eye, Lorena, Newt and others. The novel also introduces some very, very memorable people and scenes you won't soon forget.

Highly recommended reading from my corner, though once again, I strongly suggest the books be read in chronological order:  1. "Dead Man's Walk"  2. "Comanche Moon"  3. "Lonesome Dove"  4. "Streets of Laredo."

A last note on this series: I have acquired the habit of purchasing new books in "e-book" format, for the portability and convenience of a tablet reader. I was about to purchase the entire "Lonesome Dove" series in e-book form, but had noticed many spelling and grammatical errors in previous McMurtry e-books, that were certainly not published in the hard-copy books. After reading many reviews complaining of the same type of typographical errors, I decided not to go ahead with the purchase. I'm no English major, but typos are quite irritating to find in high-end writing that is purchased at much more than low prices. Apparently McMurtry's e-book editors and proofreaders are not nearly as thorough as they should be.

If anyone out there has experienced the same thing, I'd sure like to know you're thoughts. Feel free to comment!
