Steve Massengale, Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees President, spoke with Tom and Laura Wednesday morning about his thoughts on and concerns about schools and education.

He will be challenging Charles Perry for the seat. Massengale hopes to bring people together to work toward goals, particularly at the local level. He said, "I have a strong passion for this community and a strong passion for education. I have see some things over the past few years that concern me."

Massengale is largely focused on education funding, efficiency and growth. He is concerned by cuts to school funding: "I'd really like to stop kicking this can down the road." He hopes to lead progress to  reach more permanent funding for education.

KFYO reported on the announcement Tuesday. See this article for more details and Massengale's statements at that event.
