Southwest Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Amarillo Due to Unruly Passenger
A male passenger has been arrested after he tried to break into the cockpit of a Southwest Airlines Los Angeles to Kansas City according to witnesses.
The flight crew made an emergency call to the flight tower at Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday to ask for emergency clearance to land.
The crew for the Dallas-based discount carrierĀ reported the flight was interrupted when a male passenger tried to break into the cockpit.
The unruly passenger arrested on the flight has been described by witnesses as a manĀ in his mid-20s who first went to the lavatory in the back of the Boeing 737 and started a commotion before attempting to rush the cockpit. He was calmed down by a crew member of the Southwest flight.
