"It's a wonderful event," said Amy Duemer from the South Plains Kidney Foundation about the foundation's upcoming Walk and Roll 5K in June.

All the money raised from this event is used to help local people suffering with end stage renal disease that are on dialysis or looking at a transplant.

"We help a lot at the dialysis centers with gas vouchers, bus passes, United food vouchers, Walmart vouchers for food and gas," Duemer said. "We try and do things that will help people with transportation and making sure that they get the nutrients and the things that they need when they're on dialysis."

The Walk and Roll 5K will be on Saturday, June 13 at Mackenzie Park, with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m.
