Lowe's Supermarkets will partner with the South Plains Food Bank (SPFB) for this year's Summer of Sharing food drive. This is the third year the SPFB has held the Summer of Sharing food drive.

The food drive started today, at the Lowe's Supermarket at 82nd and Slide Road, and will run through July 2.

South Plains Food Bank Chief Executive Officer David Weaver talked about the success of the previous summers' food drives, “It was overwhelming to see the concern people had for their neighbors. People wanted to make certain that we had the food to help support those hurting and hungry in our community. It was amazing to see the response.”

“Lowe’s is thrilled to be able to be a part of this great campaign in assisting the South Plains Food Bank in reaching their goal of alleviating hunger and giving hope to the hungry,” said Lowe’s Supermarkets’ Area Manager Tim Cotton.

“We are glad to welcome Lowe’s into our family of community partners,” said David Weaver. “They are great to work with and will play a key role in this year’s success of the Summer of Sharing.”

Lowe’s Supermarkets will be selling pre-made bags of food at each register for $5 each starting today and ending Monday, July 2. They will also be selling $2 reusable grocery tote bags where 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit the South Plains Food Bank.
