A local charity and a fast food chain are teaming up to help fight hunger in the South Plains.

The South Plains Food Bank has announced a partnership with Whataburger Classic Restaurants this year, which will kick off with a food drive.

The food drive will begin this Friday at all seven Whataburger locations in Lubbock. Donate four cans of food at Whataburger, and receive a coupon for a free hamburger. The drive will run through Tuesday, February 14th.

“It is always great to have someone new come along with fresh ideas and enthusiasm,” said David Weaver, South Plains Food Bank Chief Executive Officer. “We are excited to have them join our Food Bank family and our other faithful corporate and business partners.”

The South Plains Food Bank says this drive is one of many different ways in which Whataburger will be partnering with the SPFB this year.
