South Plains College to Offer Pistol Safety Course
An area college is offering a basic pistol course this month.
South Plains College is offering a National Rifle Association Basic Pistol class on September 15th in the Law Enforcement Technology Building.
The class will begin at 8 a.m. and offer breaks each hour, as well as a lunch break.
The course runs eight to 10 hours, depending on the number of students, and includes classroom and range time. The cost of the course is $70, and students must register and pay in advance.
Topics covered will include rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; cleaning the pistol; standing positions, and more.
