South Plains College will offer a basic pistol class next weekend.

The NRA Basic Pistol Class will be held on May 18th and 19th in the Law Enforcement Technology Building in Levelland.

The course lasts eight to 10 hours, depending on the number of students, and includes classroom and range time. It covers the National Rifle Association’s rules for safe gun handling, pistol parts and ammunition, range rules, cleaning the pistol, and more.

The $70 course fee includes the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, and Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet.

Pistols, ammunition, and eye and ear protection will be provided.

Saturday morning’s class runs from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. with breaks every hour and a lunch break. Sunday’s class begins at 2 p.m. and ends at 5 p.m.
