An area college will offer the opportunity to learn basic pistol skills early next month.

South Plains College will offer an National Rifle Association Basic Pistol class on Saturday, February 2nd.

The course runs eight to 10 hours, and includes classroom and range time. It covers the NRA rules for safe gun handling, pistol parts and operation, shooting fundamentals, range rules, shooting positions, and more.

The $70 course fee also includes the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, marksmanship qualification booklet.

Pistols, ammunition, as well as eye and ear protection will be provided.

The class will begin at 8 a.m. with hourly breaks and a lunch break in SPC’s Law Enforcement Technology Building. Students must register and pay in advance.
