An area college will host a ceremony honoring law enforcement officers that lost their lives in the line of duty.

South Plains College will host the annual Police Memorial Service at 10 a.m. May 3rd at the entrance of their main campus in Levelland.

The yearly event honors law enforcement officers that lost their lives while serving and protecting citizens across the nation.

Delivering the keynote for the event is James Oswalt, Special Agent Investigator for the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education.

Special guest Corporal Darrell Campbell of the Snyder Police Department will be honored at the memorial. Campbell was shot in the head during a disturbance call in summer of 2011.

The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard will also take part in the service with the SPC honor guard.
