Snyder’s Take: Why I’m Excitied About Championship Bull Riding Coming to Lubbock

In just a few weeks, on February 4th, a Cinch Championship Bull Riding (CBR) event will be coming to the Hub City. The West Texas Showdown, presented by 99-5 The Bear, will take place at the City Bank Coliseum.

It's been years since I've watched a bull riding event live, and in person, but it's one of quickest, most exciting sports you can see in person.

Most Cinch CBR events last two hours from start to finish and the City Bank Coliseum will be a great venue for the event. The seating in the City Bank Coliseum is not far away from the arena floor and there are good sight-lines too.

One of the top young riders in CBR is a Lubbock native. 20 year-old Chandler Bownds (pictured, left) is a 2010 graduate of Lubbock Cooper High School and he's competed in CBR since 2010. Right now he's 32nd in the CBR World Standings. In his career, Bownds has scored 90+ three separate times.
