The Slaton Police Department has released the identity of the man who was struck and killed by a motorist Sunday, April 26.

According to a press release from Slaton Police Department Chief Trevor Barnes, the victim, Vance Lamar Hill (43) of Slaton, had stolen a semi tractor and trailer late Saturday night. Hill proceeded to crash the semi into the Slaton Steakhouse.

Following the crash, Hill left the scene and was attempting to cross a street around a block away when he was struck and killed by an unidentified driver.

The Slaton Police Department is asking for the public's help to identify the vehicle and driver. Witnesses at the scene described the vehicle as a dark-colored SUV. Police suggest that the vehicle will have front end damage due to the accident.
