The U.S. Government has countless websites featuring information that is both important and useful to the public. I've compiled a short list of some that can come in handy. If you know of any more, feel free to leave the link in a comment.

USA.gov
USA.gov is the epicenter of government websites. It serves as the largest web portal for the US Government. Here you can find information on almost anything involving the government, from grant information to license renewal to even government auctions.

GPO Access
At this website, which is part of the government’s printing office, you can find information from the three branches of the federal government. You have access to thousands of documents, including core documents of U.S. democracy and a list of federal databases.

Library of Congress
This is one of my favorite websites. Here you can spend hours digging through historical collections of photographs, manuscripts, and video and sound recordings. You can also find historical information on your local and state governments. If you want to research historical documents, this is the place to go.

IRS.gov
This website is priceless, especially around this time of year. Here you can print off tax forms and get help on filing your taxes. The website also has updates on tax laws that have changed, as well as links to free tax filing.

Occupational Outlook Handbook
If you’re in need of a job and have turned to job searching online, this is a crucial source. Here you can find information on the job market, an occupations index, and detailed descriptions about what to expect in your field, including required training and expected job prospects.  Also, with this website you don’t have to worry about scam job offers that inundate your in-boxes with spam.

Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry
If you have concerns that you may have been exposed to a toxic substance, or are just curious what a substance can do to the human body, this website is a great resource. It’s a great website to keep on tab in case you need it in an emergency. Each substance has a nicely detailed description including how it is made, and how it can be harmful to the human body.
