A Lubbock museum has announced the opening of a new exhibit.

The Silent Wings Museum is presenting “Alert Today, Alive Tomorrow,” which features more than 75 original objects from America’s atomic age.

Some of the items include federal pamphlets, newspapers, textbooks about “duck and cover” drills, transportation infrastructure, comic books, and more.

The exhibit displays three phases of the chronological phases of the Atomic Age, which are:

  • The Blast (1945-1950)
  • Under the Mushroom Cloud (1951-1956),
  • Nuclear Fallout (1957-1965)

Alert Today, Alive Tomorrow is curated by Michael Scheibach, an independent collector in Independence, Missouri, and Leslie Przybylek, curator of Humanities Exhibitions at Mid-America Arts Alliance.

The exhibition will be on display through May 25th.
