Silent Wings Air Museum to Hold Veterans Day Events
Lubbock' s Silent Wings Air Museum is holding a variety of events today in honor of Veterans Day.
This afternoon at 1p a special gallery discussion with Don Abbe, the museum’s curator will host a gallery talk opening The Creative Side of War exhibition. That will be followed by a talk with John McCullough entitled Putt Putt Air Force.
This evening from 5:30 to 9:30 a reception will be held with live swing music performed by Jazz Alley. Members of the Winged Commandos will also be at the museum all day long in period dress. Joe Hays talks about the group’s mission, "Our mission is to perpetuate that memory of what happened to the men and women in World War II. What they did, and what their jobs were. Especially those related to glider program, which is also the mission of the Silent Wings Air Museum."
