Republican State Representative John Zerwas of Richmond along with Democratic State Senator Carlos Uresti of San Antonio are working to pass legislation during this legislative session that would raise the age one must be to buy tobacco products.

The lawmakers want to raise the minimum age one must be to purchase tobacco products to 21 years old. According to FOX News, if the legislation passes, Texas could lose up to $100 million in taxes.
