Shooting Suspect Surrenders to Lubbock Police

Lubbock Police responded to shots fired and located one homicide victim on Friday, September 5.

Officers arrived on scene at the Falcon Cover Apartments, located in the 6500 block of Temple Avenue, at approximately 8:45 p.m., September 8. Officers located one victim, 22-year-old Demodrick Williams, in the parking lot with multiple wounds who was transported by EMS to University Medical Center.

Williams underwent emergency surgery but succumbed to his wounds at around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 6.

The suspected shooter fled the scene but investigators obtained enough evidence to positively identify the suspect as Shovantae Johnson. Johnson turned himself in and was booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center on Sunday, September 7.

Johnson, 19, has been charged with First Degree Murder and is being held on a $1 million bond.
