A shooting in a South Plains town leaves one man injured and forces a school to go on lock down.

The shooting took place this afternoon in Slaton where a man was walking down an alley way and was then shot.

The man was taken to UMC with non-life threatening injuries and the suspect in the shooting is still being sought by police.

Slaton ISD schools went on lockdown due to the proximity of the shooting to a school, but students were released from school at 3:40 today with no incident.
