The woman who struck a Lubbock Police Officer with her vehicle while attempting to flee during a traffic stop has been sentenced to 50 years in federal prison.

Shelly Blair, 43, was sentenced Thursday, October 2, to 50 years in federal prison for aggravated assault of Lubbock Police officer Mike Matsik.

According to court records, when Matsik pursued Blair in a vehicle chase her co-defendant exited the vehicle and ran on foot and Matsik followed. Blair then reportedly took control of the vehicle and struck Matsik, causing severe head trauma, before speeding away. Mike Matsik was undercover at the time of the incident.

Blair was convicted Wednesday, October 2, and will serve 50 years in federal prison with parole availability after 25 years served. Matsik is currently an instructor for the Lubbock Police Department.

In an unrelated 2013 case, Blair led Slaton Police on a vehicle chase.
