The fourth chancellor of Texas Tech University was announced on Thursday, June 12th by the Texas Tech Board of Regents.

In a special meeting held by the Texas Tech University System's Board of Regents, Texas Senator Robert Duncan was officially approved as the new chancellor of the Texas Tech University System.

Chairman of the Board of Regents, Mickey Long said, "To have someone of Sen. Duncan’s stature who is available and ready to take the chancellor’s chair speaks to the quality of our universities. He is someone who will continue the upward path that the Texas Tech University System has been on for the past several years,”

Duncan will succeed current chancellor Kent Hance, who served for over eight years. Duncan and assume his new position as the fourth chancellor on July 7th. Hance will then officially assume the title of chancellor emeritus.
