Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison has joined a bi-partisan group of senators who want to cut spending on military construction overseas.  The group is urging the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, the so-called Supercommittee, to make the cuts.

In a letter to all 12 members of the Supercommittee, Hutchison and the other senators suggested that military construction overseas could be "significantly reduced" with "minimal negative impact on the nation's readiness."

Hutchison called the proposed cuts common sense reductions that … save taxpayer dollars and meet the security needs of U.S. forces and the American people."

Hutchison is not running for re-election next year.
