A group of U.S. Senators, including Texas Senator John Cornyn (R) have a requested a 60-day extension for the public comment period concerning the addition of the Lesser Prairie Chicken as a threatened species. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service would make the determination on whether or not to list the Lesser Prairie Chicken as a threatened species. The group of six senators also requested a six-month extension of the final decision making process by the FWS.

Co-signers on the letter are Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX), Jim Inhofe (R-OK), Tom Coburn (R-OK), Pat Roberts (R-KS), and Jerry Moran (R-KS).
