On the Friday edition of The Chad Hasty Show, Senator John Cornyn talked with Chad Hasty about the upcoming sequester and just how it will affect us.

Although there's been a lot of "doom and gloom" surrounding the sequestration taking effect today, Cornyn says that when all is said and done, there won't be much of a difference in federal spending. He noted that all the sequestration will do is reduce the increase in federal spending. And even when it goes to effect, Cornyn said federal spending will still be the highest it's been in a number of years.

Cornyn went on to criticize Obama for his lack of leadership, saying that he is not at all serious about spending cuts, or getting the nation's debt under control.

This is what happens when you don't have leadership, you talked about that a moment ago, and particularly from the Commander-in Chief. The president signed this Budget Control Act into law on August 2nd, 2011, so we've known this day was coming for a long time. And he's done absolutely nothing to plan for it. In fact, during the Presidential campaign, he said it wouldn't happen. I know he was hoping it wouldn't happen, because the President doesn't believe in cutting any kind of federal spending...

Cornyn went on to say that sequestration as a whole was an ugly deal, particularly with cuts  to the defense department. Cornyn said the only success Republicans can claim from this is if the sequester goes through without a raise in taxes.
