Senator John Cornyn Calls Voter ID Decision “Purely Political”

Senator John Cornyn held nothing back in responding to the Justice Department’s rejection of the Texas Voter ID law.

In a news release under the headline “Voter ID Decision Purely Political,” Cornyn said:

“The decision reeks of politics and appears to be an effort by the Department of Justice to carry water for the President’s reelection campaign.”

“Voter identification laws are constitutional and vital to protecting the integrity of the democratic process,” Cornyn said in a news release.

The voter ID law would require Texas voters to show a certain kind of identification before voting.
