Voting deadlines are approaching for the District 28 Special Election that will take place next month.

The special election is necessary after long-serving Senator Robert Duncan vacated his seat to assume the position of Chancellor for the Texas Tech University System in July. Duncan replaced, now Chancellor Emeritus, Kent Hance.

The September 9 special election will take place between State Representative Charles Perry, Kerry McKennon, Jodey Arrington, E.M. Garza, Greg Wortham and Delwin Jones. Those wishing to vote in the election have until Monday, August 11 to register or update their address.

Potential voters may drop off their Application to Vote or Change of Address forms to the Lubbock Elections Office, located at 1308 Crickets Ave, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Early voting for the election is expected to run from August 25 to September 5.
