The second body found near Idalou last week has been identified as the first victim’s son.

The body of 26-year-old Derek Ryan Hale was found around 8:30 Friday evening on a farm, just east of Farm-to-Market Road 400 on East County Road 6200. Hale's body was found less than 1000 feet from where the body of his mother, 49-year-old Joanie Deeanne Parker was found.

The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office says that Hale died of blunt force trauma and a stab wound. Parker had been shot three times.

Prior to the discovery of Hale’s body, authorities were searching for him in connection with the death of his mother.

No suspects have been named as of yet. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crimeline at 741-1000.
