Saturday Events in Lubbock: The King and I, West Texas Warbirds, and the 6th Annual Hub City Beach Party
The Wings Miniature Aircraft Society are holding a miniature aircraft show today and tomorrow. The West Texas Warbirds will be flying at the Abernathy Municipal Airport four miles east of I-27 on FM 2060.The West Texas Warbirds are radio controlled miniature custom-built planes. Admission is $5 for anyone over the age of 12.
Lubbock Moonlight Musicals will hold their performance of the King and I tonight. The performance begins at 8:00pm at the Wells Fargo Amphitheater in Mackenzie Park. Moonlight Musicals features Tech students and actors from the Lubbock community. You can get your tickets from select-a-seat by calling 806-770-2000.
The 6th annual Hub City Beach Party takes place today to raise money for Foster a Life. Foster a life is a nonprofit agency that grants money to foster children in Lubbock and the surrounding counties. The event begins at 4:00pm at the Cactus Courtyard, where attendees can participate in activities such as a treasure hunt, a beer pong tournament, and a drawing for Southwest Airline tickets to the destination of your choice. At 7:30pm the Landsharks, a Jimmy Buffet Tribute band, will begin their performance. Food and drinks will be available. Tickets are $15 through select-a-seat or $20 at the door.
