The Salvation Army of Lubbock is preparing to serve a Thanksgiving meal.

Around 300 people in need are expected to eat the Thanksgiving dinner, which will include the traditional fare, plus an extra dessert to take with them.

The meal will be served between 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, at the Salvation Army Family Housing Facility and Emergency Shelter, located at 17th Street and Avenue J. Volunteers will begin preparing the food at 7 a.m.

Last year, 252 meals were served by the Salvation Army of Lubbock.

Christmas dinner will also be served by the Salvation Army, and they provide food boxes for Christmas as well. 1,700 families will receive the food boxes this year. To volunteer, call 765-9434.
