Ruidoso Downs Race Track in cooperation with the New Mexico Racing Commission to crack down on doping for horses in races conducted in the New Mexico resort destination.

Ruidoso Downs has tested horses since the beginning of the 2011 race season more aggressively and has produced several positive results for use of illegal drugs used on the race horses.

Testing will occur during the July 3rd and 4th races for the Grade 1, $700,000 Rainbow Futurity and the Grade 1, $1,000,000 Rainbow Derby.

R.D. Hubbard, chairman of the board for the Ruidoso Downs track called the positive tests an "important first step" in a press release sent to media on Wednesday afternoon.

The NMRC will deal with violators on the positive doping results in the coming days.
