A man has been arrested for assault at a Lubbock Whataburger.

On Tuesday, July 29, at approximately 11:45 p.m. Lubbock Police officers responded to reports of a robbery at the Whataburger restaurant located at 2412 9th Street.

Paul Utterback, 53, was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of evading arrest. Utterback allegedly tried to rob two men with a knife as they exited the restaurant. Police apprehended Utterback in the 1200 block of University Avenue as he fled the scene of the botched robbery.

Utterback was booked into the Lubbock County Jail on Wednesday, July 30th. His public info sheet lists him as homeless.
