A Visit Lubbock board member has been named as the leader of a statewide association.

Rob Meyer, owner and operator of Lubbock’s Arbor Inn and Suites, has been named as the 2013 chairman of the board for the Texas Hotel and Lodging Association.

The THLA is a nonprofit trade association representing every aspect of the lodging and tourism industry.

Meyer first began on THLA’s board of directors in May of 2006, and later served as vice president of the group’s Legal Defense Fund, which serves as a watchdog to keep track of how cities and counties in Texas spend the local hotel occupancy tax.

John Osborne, CEO and President of Visit Lubbock and the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance, said “It’s great that Lubbock has another strong voice in a state level organization, and I know Rob will help positively guide the association through this next legislative session.”

Meyer is also a graduate of Texas Tech.
