Some Lubbock County roadways will undergo maintenance work over the next few months.

TxDOT is set to begin work on the $1.6 million maintenance project to improve several roadways this week.

Pavement repairs and a new road surface will be done on segments of the Southbound US 87 frontage road from South Loop 289 to 82nd Street, The I-27 frontage roads from North Loop 289 to Regis Street, and along the Brownfield Highway from just east of 82nd Street to Loop 193 in Wolfforth.

Roadway surfaces will be milled before repaving, and traffic should expect to drive on rough roadways for several weeks. Motorists are asked to drive with caution through the work zone, and to be on the lookout for workers, in addition to always avoiding distractions for their own safety, as well as the safety of the workers.

These projects are expected to be complete by mid-October.
