Beginning tomorrow, motorists traveling in South Lubbock County will see traffic reduced to one lane along a major U.S. Highway. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will continue work on a $6.8 million project on the southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 87 between Farm to Market Road 1585 to the Lynn County line.

The daytime closures of the highway will allow constructions crews to place the final road surfacing for the highway. Motorists on U.S. 87 during this phase of the construction are urged to drive with caution through the work zone and be on the lookout for workers in the area.

Once the work is completed on the southbound lanes, crews will place the surface on the northbound lanes. Work is expected to be completed in four weeks, weather permitting. The project contractor is J. Lee Milligan Construction from Amarillo.
