The City of Lubbock is set to begin important road maintenance on Milwaukee Avenue and Erskine Street.

The first phase of work will take place on Milwaukee Avenue, between Erskine Street and Marshall Street. Milwaukee will be closed to thru traffic on Thursday for the duration of the project, set to be completed in two to three weeks. Detours will be made available for neighborhoods and thru traffic. Drivers are urged to seek alternate routes or expect delays

Drivers may also want to avoid the area of 34th Street, just west of University Avenue. It's been reported that extreme heat may be the cause of crumbling concrete in the roadway, forcing cars to slow down.
