Reynaldo Rey Found Guilty of 1989 Murder of Minnie Elkins, Sentenced to Life in Prison
A guilty verdict has been passed down in a 1989 murder case in Lubbock.
48-year old Reynaldo Rey was found guilty of capital murder for the death of 93-year old Minnie Elkins. The case was unsolved until DNA evidence pointed to a link with Rey.
The jury was selected on Tuesday and lawyers presented evidence Wednesday and today before the jury deliberated for only a few hours. Closing arguments began earlier today.
The guilty verdict for Rey means an automatic life-sentence.
