A lot of people enjoy picking up ice cream after dinner in Lubbock, but what about pie? Lubbock has a great new

spot to pick up some dessert and it's quickly becoming a hit. It's called the Choc'late Mousse Pie Bar, and on Friday my wife and I checked it out.

When you think Pie Bar, you might be like me and picture a bakery type place selling slices and whole pies. If you are thinking that, you are way off. The Choc'late Mousse has a coffee shop like layout with plenty of seating. You can choose to sit at tables, in chairs, or even on one of the comfortable couches that they have. It's a modern yet classy feel that is inviting and really draws you to stay and enjoy a good conversation. Nothing is hurried which is nice. It's also bigger than it looks from the outside. You can tell it's a place that wants you to have fun and enjoy the experience.

So, what about the pie? It's fantastic. First things first, you aren't getting a slice of pie at the Choc'late Mousse. Nope, instead your pie comes in a glass. Or inside a Pie Sandwhich aka PieWhich. This isn't a bakery. It's modern and sure, different. But it's a good different and that's what sets it apart. The menu seems to change day to day though they do have some staples like Choc'late Mousse. They also have many different options on how you can have your pie. My wife had a shot glass of Pumpkin Pie. They put a small amount of ginger snap crust on the bottom, followed by pumpkin pie, and whipped cream. I had a taste and it was fantastic. I ordered the Piefait. That comes in a larger glass and has two layers of pie. I started off with an Oreo cookie crust, followed by Oreo Pie filling. Then they put a graham cracker crust in followed by some of their famous chocolate filling. Yes, it was great.

This is probably now one of our favorite dessert places in Lubbock, and I highly recommend that you check it out. The Choc'late Mousse Pie Bar is located at 3207 50th St. Open Tuesday thru Saturday 10am-9pm and Sunday 11am-6pm. Closed on Monday's.
