Rep. Frullo Won’t Vote to Allow Leach to Sue Texas Tech

By KFYO’s Rex Andrew

As KFYO reported yesterday,  District 83 State Representative Charles Perry does not support Mike Leach’s effort to sue Texas Tech over his firing from Tech.  In an interview this morning on Lubbock’s First News on KFYO, District 84 State Rep. John Frullo said he too would not vote to give Leach permission to sue Tech.

Rep. John Frullo (Texas Legislature)

“I feel it’s in the best interest of the folks in District 84 [not to allow the lawsuit],” Frullo said. “This thing has been through the court system. It’s on appeal right now. We’re down here dealing with a $15-20 billion budget shortfall. We’ve got a lot of big issues we’re trying to tackle down here and I think that’s really where our focus needs to be.”

Leach must have permission from the legislature to sue Texas Tech after Tech’s Sovereign Immunity was upheld by a state court last year.
