Renee Valencia Receives Life Sentence For 2010 Murder of Zachary Matta
A Lubbock man has received a life sentence following a 2010 murder.
Renee Valencia was sentenced to life in prison late Monday morning, after being convicted of the shooting death of 22-year-old Zachary Matta.
Matta was gunned down by Valencia outside the Daiquiri Lounge in the 2200 block of Buddy Holly Avenue in Lubbock’s Depot District in early October of 2010.
A Lubbock Police officer heard the shots and pursued Valencia. He fired shots at the officer, but she was not injured. Officers took him into custody a short time later.
The Daiquiri Lounge has since been closed following many TABC service calls.
Valencia will be eligible for parole in 30 years.
