Windy and dry conditions across the South Plains Saturday will lead to increased fire danger.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect on Saturday, March 23rd from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. Relative humidity of 15 percent or less, combined with high winds create high fire danger.

Winds are expected to be 25 to 35 miles per hour Saturday.

Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Residents are urged to avoid activities that promote open flames and sparks.

A wind advisory will also be in effect from 1 p.m. Saturday through midnight. Wind gusts of 40 to 55 miles per hour are expected, and will remain similar as a cold front moves into the region Saturday evening.

Travel may become difficult for high profile vehicles traveling on north to south and west to east oriented roads. Patchy blowing dust may also reduce visibility.
