On Friday's edition of Lubbock's First News, former editor of the Lubbock Avalanche Journal Randy Sanders spoke with Chad and Rex about his run for City Council.

Sanders is looking to represent District 6, a position currently held by Jim Gilbreath. Gilbreath is not seeking re-election, and at the moment, Sanders is running unopposed. Sanders said he loves Lubbock, and really want to try to make it a better place to live.

"I've been plugged in, I'm aware of the issues and I want to have a role in trying to resolve some of the issues."

During the interview, Sanders discussed some of his campaign issues. He said one of the things he would like to see is more transparency in the local government and helping citizens become more informed about city issues. He also discussed taxes and fees, downtown redevelopment and water rates.
