On the Saturday edition of The Chad Hasty Show, political consultant Brian Walsh spoke with guest host Matt Crow about the upcoming 2014 midterm elections.

Walsh predicted that Obamacare would be a huge issue in the 2014 midterms. He said that he was disappointed that the news of the government shutdown overshadowed the heavily-flawed implementation of Obamacare, and the media tends to focus more on Republicans fighting with each other as opposed to their efforts to stop Obamacare. However, he still believes that 2014 could be a good opportunity for Republicans to win back their states if they really focus on the flaws of Obamacare.

He also discussed Senator John Cornyn run for re-election to the Senate, and said that Cornyn represents Texas values and is not taking re-election for granted. Walsh predicted that Cornyn will win re-election in 2014.

Walsh also made some predictions about the 2016 races, although he added that it was still too early to say anything with certainly. He predicted that Senator Ted Cruz could be a top contender for the Republican candidate for president, saying that he is already appearing to position himself for a 2016 run and is really connecting with Republican voters across the country. Walsh also predicted that Texas governor Rick Perry could make another run for President, despite the missteps he had in the last election. But overall, the 2016 races are still wide open at this point.
