Lubbock ISD is warning parents of students on safety tips, following an attempted abduction near O.L. Slaton Middle School Tuesday.

A 12-year-old girl was walking home from school on Avenue N between 23rd and 25th Streets around 4:30 Tuesday afternoon.

She was approached by a man who attempted to get her into a vehicle. The girl managed to escape, and the suspect fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a black male, last seen driving a red passenger car.

Parents are advised to ensure that if their students are walking home, to stay in groups of three or more.
