Police Chase Leads to One Arrest, Search For Two Others

Lubbock Police have arrested one man suspected of his involvement in shooting a gun out of a vehicle in the City and the police chase which ensued.

Police responded to a report of shots being fired at 24^th Street and Frankford Avenue just before 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Witnesses reported people in a yellow Hummer driving up and down Frankford Avenue shooting a gun.

Officers found the vehicle and occupants in the 4300 block of West Loop 289, and pursued it to the north alley of 6100 39^th Street.

The occupants exited the Hummer and fled the area on food.

One occupant, 19-year-old Jose Angel Chavez, was taken into custody.

A stolen firearm was located inside the vehicle, which had also been stolen.

Police are still searching for two suspects that managed to escape.

Chavez has been charged with burglary of a habitation, organized crime, theft of a firearm, evading by vehicle, evading by food, unlawful carry of a weapon, possession of marijuana, and three prior charges.
